Overview
In 2 Corinthians 8-9, Paul urges the Corinthians to complete their plans of giving towards the poor in Jerusalem. Paul spurs them to action by reminding them of God’s grace towards them through Jesus’ self-giving; by pointing to the sacrificial example of the Macedonians and the enthusiasm and integrity of the Christians who would enact the transaction; and by assuring them that God is the one whose provision would enable them to glorify him and bless the church in Jerusalem.
This part of God’s word has a lot of practical wisdom about how we as Christians ought to use our money, and calls us to be generous people, in light of our Father’s generosity towards us – most of all in his Son.
