Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going when I die? These questions plagued Paul while he suffered depression, unemployment, loneliness and confusion after high school.
Practicing New Age spirituality, being captivated by conspiracy theories on the Internet, and devouring self-help videos provided him with no lasting answers. Aged 27, Paul almost died in a motorbike accident. When he had given up on life, he stumbled onto a YouTube video of Charles Lawson explaining from the Bible how our sin leads to eternal death and separation from God.
This was the first time Paul had heard the Bible as an adult and he was astonished at how accurately it described the world around him and the darkness inside him. When he heard that Jesus said, ‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by me,’ he believed this and knew it was true. Paul says, ‘I asked Jesus to forgive my sin, and to be my Saviour and Lord. And he did just that.’
Paul and his wife, Brianna, have a black, white and caramel coloured cat named Faith. Paul’s family also includes a twin brother, an older brother, and his Mum.
In recent years Paul has worked at Koorong bookstore and as a baker at Woolworths. Now, as a Ministry Apprentice, he’s part of our Mission team, and he also works with young adults to help them mature in their knowledge and love of God’s word.
